Our History

Our Board & Volunteers

We are governed by a three-member Board of Directors consisting of a President, Secretary-Treasurer and one additional Board Member.  We have no paid staff and all services are performed by volunteers.  Therefore, funds received are utilized for veterinary expenses, pet food, transportation to and from adoption shows and other direct and indirect animal-related expenses.  A very small percentage is utilized for administration overhead.

Our Mission

Our mission is to take abandoned and unwanted dogs and cats and place them in loving homes where they can live out their lives as well cared for and loved household pets.  We accept them from the general public before they find their way into local animal shelters.  We also endeavor to decrease the numbers of unwanted dogs and cats through the spay and neuter of the pets in our system as well as providing a small amount of spay/neuter assistance to members of the general public.

Mill Creek Rescue began it's existence in 1995 as a private rescue organization and incorporated in 1998 as a 501(c)(3) public charity. Our relationship with Petco Animal Supplies began in May of 1995 when we began providing dog and cat adoption shows in Petco's Riverside, California store.  We placed pets at this location at the rate of 300-500 per year until May of 2010 when we discontinued all adoption shows through Petco. We are now listing our available pets on this site and through petfinder.com and show them by appointment only. We still participate in a few special adoption events each year at various locations.
